PhD in the design of antimicrobial drug conjugates

 

The research group for drug conjugates at the institute for Organic Chemistry at the Technische Universität Braunschweig (www.klahnlab.de) is currently looking for a PhD candidate starting early in 2019 for the development of novel extracellular-targeted antimicrobial drug and fluorophore conjugates based on smart linker technologies. The work will include the synthesis of appropriate carrier molecules, smart linkers and novel derivatives of antibacterial drugs and appropriate fluorophores ready for conjugation. Participation in the education, e.g. supervision of practical courses and internships, is expected.

 

Appropriate candidates should hold a master degree in organic or medicinal chemistry, with high marks and excellent hands-on knowledge of organic synthesis. A perfectly equipped scientific surrounding at the host institute and supervision by a young, highly motivated group leader will be provided. The position will be payed with TVL 13 (50%) and is planned for 3 years.

PostDoc in natural-product based antimicrobial drug design

 

The research group for drug conjugates at the institute for Organic Chemistry at the Technische Universität Braunschweig (www.klahnlab.de) is currently looking for a PostDoc candidate starting on 01.03.2019 for the total-and semi-synthesis of antimicrobial oligo-peptidic natural product derivatives with novel mode-of-action. In close collaboration with partners from Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, the Research Centre Borstel and the company BiosolveIT natural product derivatives should be designed and optimized for the development of antimicrobial drug-conjugates and drug-hybrids. Participation in the education, e.g. supervision of practical courses and internships, is expected.

 

Appropriate candidates should hold a Master degree in Chemistry or Pharmacy and a PhD degree with a focus on organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry or natural product chemistry, with high marks and excellent hands-on knowledge of organic synthesis. Knowledge in the synthesis of oligopeptides, conjugation chemistry and solid phase supported peptide synthesis is a plus. A perfectly equipped scientific surrounding at the host institute and supervision by a young, highly motivated group leader will be provided. The position will be payed with TVL 13 (100%) and is planned for 3 years.
